Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium pitch report
How the surface usually plays, then the figures from completed matches stored at this ground (average first-innings score is the median).
Recent ESPNcricinfo reporting describes the VCA Stadium surface as tending towards slow turners, with spinners helped by the long boundaries. Conditions can vary by match and preparation, so this is a general venue tendency rather than a guarantee for every fixture.
- Spin has generally been a significant factor in recent ODIs.
- The large outfield and long square boundaries reward accurate bowling and running between wickets.
- Match-specific reports have described Nagpur pitches as capable of offering substantial turn, but the surface is not identical for every game.

History of Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium
The stadium was inaugurated in 2008 at Jamtha, on the southern outskirts of Nagpur. It was developed to replace the older Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground as the city's principal international venue. The Vidarbha Cricket Association owns and operates the ground.
Its first international fixture was the fourth Test between India and Australia from 6 to 10 November 2008. India won by 172 runs. The match also gave the new venue a prominent opening week, with Jason Krejza taking 12 wickets for Australia and India completing the victory with a strong all-round performance.
The ground hosted four matches at the 2011 Cricket World Cup, including Zimbabwe v Canada and India v South Africa. The ICC's match report records Zimbabwe's 175-run win over Canada on 28 February, when Zimbabwe made 298 for 9 and Canada were dismissed for 123.
The venue has since hosted Tests, ODIs and T20Is, as well as domestic fixtures for Vidarbha and Central Zone. Its international programme includes women's limited-overs matches in 2016. The stadium also staged the first ODI of India's 2025 home series against England, which India won by four wickets.
The most recent international fixture is the men's T20I between India and New Zealand on 21 January 2026. The list records seven men's Tests, nine men's ODIs, 14 men's T20Is, three women's ODIs and two women's T20Is through that date. These counts are separate from domestic cricket played at the venue.
