History of ACA International Cricket Stadium

The Andhra Cricket Association first considered an international stadium for Vijayawada around 2000, but the plan moved to Mangalagiri because suitable land was not available in the city. The association later developed the site as its central-zone base. The ground is identified as the ACA Central Zone Academy, and the Mangalagiri stadium is among the association's Guntur district grounds.

Construction plans were advanced in the early 2010s, with the central-zone academy inaugurated by VVS Laxman in June 2013. The main stadium work was delayed by design and structural problems. A formal stadium inauguration took place on 30 May 2016, but the venue did not become a regular major-match ground and was subsequently left incomplete for years.

In March 2026, the ACA announced modernisation work aimed at making the venue usable for league and domestic cricket. The programme included spectator stands, floodlights, player accommodation and medical facilities. The official Andhra Premier League site recorded the ground's use during the 2026 season, including an APL event at Mangalagiri on 24 June.
