History of Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground
Established in 1935, the ground is in Rajkot's Racecourse area and has also been listed as Municipal Stadium, Corporation Ground and Racecourse. Rajkot Municipal Corporation is identified as the owner, while the Saurashtra Cricket Association operated the cricket venue. Its international programme consisted of one-day matches rather than Tests or T20Is.
The first men's ODI was played on 7 October 1986, when Australia defeated India by seven wickets. The last men's ODI came on 15 December 2009. Saurashtra's newer stadium at Khandheri, established in 2009 and roughly 10 km from Rajkot, became the association's international venue, which explains why the old ground stopped hosting internationals. It has continued to be used for domestic cricket, including first-class and List A matches.
