History of NPR College Ground

The ground was developed inside the NPR College campus at Natham and was established with major playing facilities in 2011. It gave the Dindigul area a venue capable of hosting higher-level domestic cricket, rather than requiring teams to travel to Chennai for such fixtures. The institution identifies it as its international-standard turf cricket ground and lists NPR Nagar, Natham, Dindigul district as its address.

Its early competitive use included a CK Nayudu Trophy match in 2013 and Tamil Nadu's Ranji Trophy home fixtures against Jammu and Kashmir in December 2014 and Punjab in December 2015. The first of those Ranji matches ended in a 277-run Tamil Nadu win. The Punjab game finished inside two days, with Punjab winning by 243 runs and Harbhajan Singh taking 10 wickets.

The venue became a regular Tamil Nadu Premier League location from the competition's inaugural 2016 season. Floodlight towers were installed in time for that tournament, allowing day-night fixtures. Reports from the venue describe a lush outfield, mountain views and a pitch that offered some assistance to both seamers and spinners while still allowing strokeplay. Current official material continues to list Ranji, Under-19 and TNPL matches among its uses.
