Nehru Stadium pitch report
The documented cricket surface was grass. Ground notes describe the wicket as slow, while early-morning fog and fading evening light sometimes reduced usable playing time. There is not enough reliable evidence for a consistent modern pace-versus-spin pattern, and the old ground was slated for demolition.

History of Nehru Stadium
The stadium was built in 1962 under the leadership of Radha Govinda Baruah and named for Jawaharlal Nehru. It formed the main venue in the Radha Govinda Baruah Sports Complex and served several sports, especially football and cricket. The Assam government lists it at B. Barooah Road, while cricket databases use Stadium Road.
Guwahati entered the international cricket calendar on 17 December 1983, when India met West Indies in the fifth ODI of the tour. The venue later staged domestic Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy cricket. Its grass surface was described as slow, and early fog and fading evening light were recurring scheduling difficulties.
The final men's ODI at the ground was India against New Zealand on 28 November 2010. A newer international venue at Barsapara subsequently became Guwahati's main cricket ground. In November 2025, the Assam Cabinet approved a ₹765 crore redevelopment; a December report said sporting activity had been suspended and the old stadium was to be demolished for a football-focused complex.
