Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium pitch report

How the surface usually plays, then the figures from completed matches stored at this ground (average first-innings score is the median).

The Lahli surface has been reported as lively, with a high local water table helping the pitch and outfield stay green. That has traditionally made the venue useful for seam movement, especially early in a first-class match, although the available sources do not provide a current pitch report or a reliable split of pace and spin performance.

  • A high water table is reported close below the ground at some points.
  • The green covering and lively conditions can assist seam bowling early.

History of Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium

The ground was established in 2006 by the Haryana Cricket Association at Lahli, near State Highway 16. CricketArchive records its first match in the 2006/07 season, while the opening first-class fixture was Haryana against Andhra from 23 to 26 November 2006. Andhra won that match by 114 runs. The venue has since been associated mainly with Haryana’s domestic programme.

Lahli became a regular stop for Ranji Trophy matches and other senior domestic cricket. The ground is listed as the home venue of Haryana, with its rural setting outside Rohtak distinguishing it from larger city stadiums. CricketArchive’s ground record shows a use span extending from 2006/07 through the 2025/26 season, confirming continued domestic use rather than a short-lived tournament role.

The stadium drew national attention in October 2013 when Mumbai visited Haryana in the Ranji Trophy. Sachin Tendulkar played his final Ranji Trophy match at Lahli, making an unbeaten 79 in Mumbai’s successful chase. The match was played from 27 to 30 October, and reports described the surface and slow outfield as demanding conditions for the batters.

Lahli has also produced substantial first-class totals. In the 2015/16 Ranji Trophy, Odisha made 529 for six declared against Haryana, with Natraj Behera unbeaten on 255. The pitch has been described as lively because groundwater lies close to the surface, helping the ground retain a green covering. That account is useful context, but detailed current pitch data and venue facilities are not consistently published.
