History of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium
The ground was established in 1969 as Dr. Rajendra Prasad Stadium. It was renamed Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in 1970 after the death of Syed Muhammad Moin-ul-Haq, a sports administrator associated with the Indian Olympic movement and Bihar cricket. The venue is in Rajendra Nagar, close to Rajendra Nagar Terminal.
Its international programme included a women's Test between India and West Indies in November 1976 and women's ODIs from 1978 onward. The men's ODI debut came on 15 November 1993, when Sri Lanka played Zimbabwe. The ground later staged two more men's ODIs, including a 1996 World Cup fixture.
The last men's ODI listed for the venue was Zimbabwe v Kenya on 27 February 1996. It is therefore treated here as a former international ground, although Bihar domestic cricket has continued to use Patna and the venue has remained part of plans for a substantial rebuild. A Bihar Cricket Association design report and a May 2026 report describe redevelopment with approximately 40,000 seats and a construction horizon of about three years.
