History of Gymkhana Ground

The ground was established in 1928. Its earliest recorded cricket was a Behram-ud-Dowlah Tournament match between Hyderabad Cricket Club and Raja Dhanrajgir’s XI. The venue later became associated with Hyderabad cricket and remains listed as the home ground of the Hyderabad cricket team.

Gymkhana Ground hosted its first recorded first-class match in 1931, when Hyderabad played Maharaj Kumar of Vizianagram’s XI in the Moin-ud-Dowlah Gold Cup tournament. This gives the venue a place in the early organised cricket history of the Hyderabad region.

Its only recorded international was a Women’s World Cup group match on 14 December 1997. England Women made 301 for 4 and beat Denmark Women, who finished on 107 for 7. No later international fixture is listed.
